A delegation from AHRI, led by Dr. Alemseged Abdissa, Deputy Director General of the Institute, visited the renowned Karolinska Institute (KI) and the Sida Headquarters in Stockholm from June 9th to 13th, 2024. The purpose of the visit to KI was to gain insights and share experiences regarding the grant and finance management systems, with the intention of adapting them to the context of AHRI.
The delegation was hosted by AHRI’s scientific advisory board members, Prof. Franceska Chiodi and Prof. Björn Anderson, along with Dr. Björn Kull, Head of the Grant Office at KI. A panel of experts provided briefings on the systems, structures, and functions within the Grant office. Additionally, discussions were held to explore avenues for further strengthening joint research partnerships, including opportunities for student and researcher exchanges, collaborative research initiatives, and the sharing of scientific materials and publications, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutes.

The visit to Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, aimed to exchange updates on current developments within AHRI and Sida, while also exploring opportunities to further enhance their strategic partnership. The delegation was graciously hosted and briefed by Dr. Lisa Román, Deputy Head of Research Cooperation, alongside Dr. Claire Lyngå and Dr. Andreas Admasie, Research Advisors at Sida.
