Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 27 January 2025: The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) proudly announces its receipt of the esteemed Good Financial Grant Practice (GFGP) Platinum Level Certificate, awarded by the Global Grant Community. This accolade underscores AHRI’s outstanding commitment to excellence in financial and grant management practices.
The award ceremony, held at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, coincided with the African Population Health Research Center’s (APHRC) workshop titled “Building Resilient African Research Ecosystems: Advancing Processes, Systems, Scholarship, and Sustainable Funding.” Dr. Aklilu Alemu, Director of the Knowledge Management Directorate, accompanied by his delegation members, accepted the award on behalf of AHRI. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Aklilu expressed profound gratitude and highlighted AHRI’s dedication to upholding the highest standards in financial and grant practices.

Mr. Dessalew Adane, Grants Manager of AHRI, was invited to share insights into AHRI’s journey towards securing the Platinum Level Certification. He emphasized that the leadership’s support and engagement were crucial in mobilizing a multidisciplinary team to address the gaps required for certification. Mr. Dessalew further noted that the GFGP certification will enhance AHRI’s credibility, open new funding opportunities, and support its mission to conduct high-quality research addressing critical public health challenges.
