A delegation led by Dr. Alemseged Abdissa, Deputy Director General of AHRI and Deputy Head of Mission at Ethiopian Embassy in Belgium, Ambassador Shamebo Fitamo, visited Vaccinopolis on 1 st July 2024. They were hosted by Prof. Steven Van Passel, Vice Rector Volarization and Prof. Bart Meerbergen, Head of operations at Vaccinopolis. Prof. Bart Meerbergen and Dr Alemseged Abdissa provided an overview of Vaccinopolis and AHRI respectively, after which the delegation toured the Vaccinopolis facility.
Then, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been finalized between the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) and Vaccinopolis/University of Antwerp. The primary objectives of the MoU include conducting joint clinical trials and research projects in vaccines, immunization, and related fields. It aims to promote the implementation of evidence-based vaccination strategies and establish a long-term collaboration between AHRI and Vaccinopolis for sustainable partnership in vaccine research and development (R&D).
