In Ethiopia, insight into the etiology of SARIs is very limited and much of what is known about respiratory pathogens is from data gathered in industrialized countries of the world. Therefore, thepresent study will give comprehensive SARI etiology among children using sensitive molecular diagnostic methods. Furthermore, this study will suggest the utility of some biomarkers to address the need for better diagnostics approaches that can aid in distinguishing between bacterial and viral respiratory tract infections.
