About MNTD
The MNTD directorate is one of the directorates established by the Council of Minister’s Regulation No. 376/2016 with the objective of strengthening research, capacity building and networking in Malaria and Neglected Tropical diseases research. The focus of the directorate is to conduct quality basic biomedical, clinical and operational research for informed decision making and contribute to the global scientific knowledge.
MTND is a multidisciplinary group with staffs specialized in molecular mechanisms disease, tropical infectious diseases, Microbiology, Parasitology, Clinicians, public health specialists, Laboratory technologists, Health economist and GIS/Remote sensing specialist. We have strong team of laboratory researchers and Administration/Data science unit. As of January 2021, there are 6 PhD and 5 MSc students working with MNTD.
From 2006, MTND published over 77 articles in peer reviewed Journals. And over 25 MSc and PhD level thesis works were successfully defended.
MNTD is known for teamwork and resilience in continuing research and capacity building; Directorate members are working in the National Malaria Elimination Advisory committee, the National Leishmaniasis control program task force and National Onchocerciasis elimination Advisory committees. MNTD is active in giving fee professional services.
