The founding father of AHRI passed away
AHRI hereby informs, colleagues, friends, the AHRI community and alumni with deep sorrow and grief the passing of its first director and founder, Professor Morten Harboe. Morten passed away today on 01 April 2021 surrounded by his children (Henrik, Morten jr. and Ingrid).
Morton Harboe is considered the founding Father of AHRI, and together with funders from the Swedish and Norwegian Save the Children Organizations had the wisdom to plan and construct AHRI to study the immunopathogenesis of leprosy. Professor Morten Harboe was one of the pioneers of establishing modern immunology and immunology research globally, as featured by the Scandinavian Journal of Immunology.
Prof. Harboe was engaged with AHRI development even after his directorship until recently.
We mourn with the family of Prof. Morten Harboe. We would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and the AHRI community at large.
