With AHRI’s continued focus on working to develop researchers and students competencies in different areas of biomedical research, the Institute in collaboration with the ALERT CPD Center has successfully delivered a training on Good Clinical Practice from May 17-21, 2022.
The training package was designed by the Clinical Directorate team (Dr. Kassa Haile, Dr. Adamu Bayissa and Dr. Rediet Fikru) in order to train and evaluate GCP training for researchers and study team members working in different institutions with the same standard.
The trainees during the 5-day training gained competencies in: Demonstrating understanding of research ethics, GCP and its historical development, Applying principles of research ethics, Identifying and working with different parties in clinical research, Taking valid informed consent, Managing essential documents in clinical research, Identifying phases of clinical trial and Managing participant safety and adverse event.
The training was delivered in an interactive style with group discussions and presentations as well as case studies and role plays so as to equip researchers and study teams with a solid understanding of GCP.
